Our Campaign for Downtown Riverhead starts with the idea that
this is our town, and we live here. Through online and offline
networking, we're connecting to fulfill the town's potential and
our future. Please join the many who are contibuting their time
and energy to this important project. "Think global, act
local."

Our logo was designed in 2010 by Lianne Alcon of Boli Graphics,
a Riverhead graphics design company, together with Nancy Swett
of Great Peconic Communications,
a Riverhead multi-media communications company. The star image
was provided by award-winning Riverhead photographer Steve
Berger.
Together, the logo design, the words "Where We Live,"
and the image of the heart behind the "I" drives home
that downtown is the heart and soul of a town. It's where the
history of local life is told and where the elements of potential
for the town's future lie. The star, long a symbol of distinction
and dreams, places Riverhead on a conceptual map as a real and
particular place.
We will use the logo to remind locals and visitors alike that
when they are downtown, they are in a special place full of potential,
beauty, interest, vitlality, strength, commerce, and community.
We anticipate creating stamps, pins, and other promotional items
to go with this logo as funding becomes available.

Our bumper sticker, seen in this ad, was also designed in 2010
by Lianne Alcon of Boli Graphics, a Riverhead graphics design
company, together with Nancy Swett of Great
Peconic Communications. Printing was provided locally by Minute
Man Press of Main Street, Riverhead. The ad, which uses an original
photo by Riverhead resident Cindy Clifford, was circulated on
Facebook. The bumper stickers themselves are printed as funding
is available.
Our bumper sticker campaign first and foremost was to give people
a simple and fun way to declare their love for downtown Riverhead
and give it a much-needed boost. Over the decades of downtown's
decline and false starts, many took the opportunity to ridicule
and debase the town. The entire iloveriverhead effort, and this
bumper sticker in particular, stands up to the haters! Making
the bumper stickers available as a giveaway in as many downtown
businesses and organizations as possible helps reward people for
going downtown.

In addition, members of the iloveriverhead network have launched
a multi-media campaign to rally a grassroots groundswell in support
of the efforts of downtown businesses, organizations, government
agencies, and residences to reclaim downtown Riverhead. Using
a revitalization blog, Facebook group, Twitter page, emails, phone,
personal face-to-face meetings, and special events, we're opening
the lines of communication with the singular focus of downtown.

The iloveriverhead campaign has been the subject of a number
of media stories. See the Press page.
